Giving Thanks This Thanksgiving 2010

As we approach Turkey day, I’d like to reflect on what’s been a wonderful year so far and give thanks, especially for the following:

  1. My wonderful wife Kathy who is the light of my life. Never could I have imagined that I could be so lucky as to find a partner so beautiful, kind, funny and caring. Looking forward to even more joyous times ahead
  2.

  3. My extended family of in-laws, especially my mother-in law Clare who’s strength and fortitude is only matched by her character and without doubt is the most gregarious person I know
  4.

  5. The amazing recovery and improved health of my incredible mother, who through her illness was calm and confident. I must admit to being more scared than she was and relieved of the outcome. Mom, you have been my role model all my life and I can only hope to continue to strive to keep pace with your hard work, dedication and accomplishments. Particularly I look to your example to make sure that I do all that I can for Kathy and my new family
  6.

  7. All my dear friends, Ruth, Wasim, Deirdre, Henley to name a few. Through good times and bad, good friends endure. Thank you as ever for your support, advice and most of all your friendship
  8.

  9. The amazing momentum to date of RainStor, my current company, which I have extremely high hopes for. It’s a pleasure to position and market a product that has such obvious value and unique technology. Getting to work with such talented and nice colleagues and partners is more than just icing. Thank you to John Bantleman for the great opportunity.
  10.

  11. The SF Giants for winning the World Series!
  12.

  13. And for Kathy’s dad, Ronald Klinge who in the short time, I knew him always exhibited equal amounts of bravery, strength and joys of life. As the Patron Saint of the Giants for the entire 2010 season and the playoffs, I have no doubt he had a  profound impact on many plays not limited to:
  • Temporarily blinding the 2nd base umpire on Buster Posey’s only stolen base in Game 1 vs Atlanta, allowing Lincecum to complete a 1-0 gem
  • Causing the numerous errors by Brooks Conrad ultimately leading to comeback wins vs Atlanta
  • Pushing back Texas Ranger Ian Kinsler’s almost home run in World Series Game two, when the ball bounced up in the air and fell back into the field

Happy Thanksgiving Ron, we miss you. (P.S. A repeat next year would be nice)

And Happy Thanksgiving to everyone who has been reading my blog. I appreciate all of the kind emails, comments and feedback provided. All the best to you and your family, have a safe and fun holiday.
