Ok, our gloves were off today!
If at all possible, MetaTV took our presence and visibility to higher levels at WCS.

After bestowing the virtues of our heroic the “Little Booth that Could” in yesterday’s Capt. midnight, we are now in a position where we are hearing the theme to “Jaws”.
Dadum, dadum, dadum dum dum …
Why is that, you ask?
Well, the traffic in our little booth today reached epic proportions, with at one instance, Pegasus, AT&T, Cox all looking at demos at the same time on different screens! With business development discussion occuring simultaneously in extended corners outside of the booth with both ESPN and Quokka sports, also at the same time as these demos!
The reason for the theme to the movie “Jaws” is that there is a scene where Chief Brody (Roy Schneider) is “chumming” (throwing cut up fish parts into the water to attract Jaws) when Jaws sticks its head above water. Roy sees Jaws and freezes. He then backs up into the boat and turns and utters a famous line:
“You’re gonna need a bigger boat!”

Well today, we felt like “We’re gonna need a bigger booth!”. Am I being fickle? No, just being Hollywood! This is L.A. afterall. One day you’re the INNOVATIVE “King of the booth world” and the next you find yourself in the process of being replaced by a younger, bigger booth.

But seriously, our “little booth that could” ADAPTED to the traffic like a trooper. It just goes to show, with no surprise that MetaTV continues to grow at a such rapid pace
that just when we hit high points with our current capabilities, we grow beyond them, continuously AMAZING all those who see us.

THIS JUST IN FROM WCS GOSSIP CENTRAL
– Heard uttered by a Commerce TV employee, “I had to come over to see what you (MetaTV) guys were all about. Everytime we talk to an MSO, you’re name comes up!”
– Heard uttered by an attendee, “How long have you been around as a company. Only 18 months? No way? I thought you guys had been around forever! Everybody knows you.”
– Heard uttered by Karen Montoya of E Online! at the MetaTV party “So I asked people who were coming by our E! booth who they had gone to see, MetaTV’s name came up more often than any other!”
– Heard uttered by a MetaTV party attendee “This party rocks, easily the best one I’ve been to at WCS!”
– Heard uttered by someone around the MetaTV booth – “Is this the MetaTV booth or an Insync concert?” (Well maybe not, but not all gossip is factual)

INNOVATE, ADAPT, EXPLOIT? (not an official 3rd personality trait of MetaTV, just on an as needed basis)
 – So about our party, a very entertaining and successful affair it was at the Knitting factory in Los Angeles. We shared it with 4 other sponsoring companies but they may as well not have been there cause we managed to quietly dominate.
We came, we co-sponsored, we exploited the opportunity by:
– Giving away passes professionally laminated (thanks Zora!) on chains so that people had them around their necks – looking like a backstage pass. Stickered them with MetaTV stickers so that people were asking everyone, how do we get into this “Hot” party?
– Planning ahead by sending invite e-mails to “hot prospects and partners” 2 weeks before the show, telling them to come round to our booth to collect their “passes” (thanks to Lisa Kolb for doing all the coordinating and everyone who contributed to the invite list)
– Setting up the MetaTV banner (white and bright) right in the entrance so that when people came in, they saw MetaTV first and MetaTV last when they left.(see pic)
– Having Peter Coleman as a roving reporter with a camerman to interview people and capturing them on film replying to what they thought of the party and what they thought of MetaTV.
– Greeting as many people as possible as they left by giving them a MetaTV t-shirt and thanking them for coming to the “MetaTV party”
I think we can safely say thank you to the other four companies for investing in “our” party.

MEANWHILE BACK AT THE BATCAVE
– RespondTV (aka as NoshowattheliberatetheatreTV) seemed to be rather sloppy by missing their scheduled theatre presentation at Liberate. Thanks to Jeff Bruette we exploited on their sloppiness by “stepping in” to substitute for them at the last minute. More airtime for MetaTV.
Thank you Respond! If you like, we’d be happy to step in for you in your business deals/relationships too.

TELL ME HOW WE ALL CAN GET … DOWN TO METATV STREET … DOWN TO METATV STREET …
Today’s WCS successes were brought to you by:
Marketing, Engineering, Biz Dev, TAG team and Sales Workshops all reporting great successes in the area of visibility, branding, demos, deals, recruiting, contacts,
…. the letter Y for YEAH BABY YEAH! and …..
….. the number 12 out of a possible 10 for execution by everyone ….

Here is the public folders link to additional booth pics (I’m not posting these on our web site because of the sensitvity of who was in the crowded booth picture, we don’t want the competition to get a free heads up on who’s interested in us), our Liberate Pod and our Microsoft Pod and an unfortunately rather dark pic of our party banner positioning because of difficult lighting conditions.
Enjoy!

Aye, the Capt.
