Subject: Hot News Alert: MetaTV/Pegasus news in CED Magazine – Oct 2000
Better late than never, magazines have a tendency to be late with news because of their printing deadlines. Also nothing but just straight reporting of the facts which as per press usual consistency is about 50% accurate (interesting graphic though – I’ll post a photocopy in the Ebbtide kitchen on the fridge), Still, getting this sort of coverage – even non-editorialized, is a boost to our overall market awareness. If you open the latest copy of CED (Communications Engineering and Design), on page 20 you’ll see the following:
PEGASUS AIMS ITV PORTAL AT SATELLITE SUBS
Pegasus Communications Corp., the country’s third largest DBS provider, and interactive TV company MetaTV, will develop a portal designed specifically to deliver iTV and TV-centric services to satellite subscribers in underserved areas.
MetaTV will design, develop, maintain and host an iTV portal for Pegasus that leverages the MetaTV Universal Portal Platform. This will enable the Pegasus portal to deploy on top of the Liberate TV platform, which includes both server and client software.
Pegasus serves approximately 1.3 Million DBS subscribers in 41 states, including pending acquisitions, and focuses on rural and underserved areas. MetaTV provides broadband e-commerce, syndication, advertising, personalization, and content management systems inside set-top boxes.
