The highly geeky and technical weather fans or amatur meterologists would have many more cumulus, alto-cumlus like terms to be used for possible product/module or even company names, but the whole cloud concept had me thinking that the marketing association and possibilities must be endless and all the same time cheezy too.
For a Saturday morning exercise, I thought I’d list a set of possible ideas/names. Feel free to add more with your comments. Go ahead and “take a name” if you need it, but “leave a name” too (just like pennies) so that we have a decent supply.
Possible names for Cloud Products/Services/companies (do tell me if any of these are taken!):
- Umbrella Systems (cloud Security) or Brolly (in the UK)
- Lightening Rod Technologies (sales lead/market demand gen)
- PaaSodoble (platform as a service for agile development)
- Sunnyside Consulting (enterprise software consulting company, advises people on why they shouldn’t use cloud computing)
- Hailstorm (high performance ETL to/from cloud) … oh wait … already used by Microsoft as code name way back when
- Drizzle Inc. (near realtime/realtime change data capture for the cloud)
- ThunderClap Technologies (collision avoidance plugin for your GPS accessed from the cloud)
- Seattle Networks (cloud-based real-time exchange for trading of water futures)
- Foghorn Leghorn Software (I say … I say … boy … real-time event alerts)
- Whether Research Inc. (cloud side retainer-based analyst firm to help you with whether the cloud is a good idea)
