Synon/Asset Managment is a new application from the
SMA stable of applications specifically designed for
Synon/Financials users. Although it is an additional
application with its own Synon/2 model, it is completely
integrated with Synon/Financials at the database level
and shares many of the re-useable components within
Synon/Financials. Synon/Asset Management is not a
stand-alone application.
The "Clean sheet" development philosophy
adopted for Synon/Financials, sweeping away outmoded
legacy approaches, to give users maximum flexibility and
control, has been continued with Synon/Asset Managment.
The initial release of Synon/Asset Management provides
all the functionality required to manage an asset from
the time it is acquired through to its eventual
disposal/replacement. Future releases will extend the
functionally to cover the full life cycle of an asset
from budgetting through purchasing to
disposal/replacement.
The user definable components include:
- Asset numbering
- Depreciation books
- Value types
- Categories
- Locations
- Warranty types
- Insurers
- Leases
- Asset listings
- Asset attributes
The concept of "soft attributes" introduced in
Synon/Financials has been significantly extended in
Synon/Asset Management for asset attributes.
Asset attributes can be defined by type. There is no
limit to the number of user defined attributes that can
be defined and recorded against an asset. Synon/Asset
Managment will therefore allow you to record any
information you wish about an asset.
Asset attributes like all other data held about an asset
can be used to select and sort assets in the user defined
Asset listing function. These Asset lists can then be
used with the mass maintenance functions or to form the
basis for user defined reports.
